About Us

Welcome to Skyline Seattle Retirement Community.

Your destination for extraordinary.

Founded in 2009, Skyline offers a cosmopolitan retirement lifestyle with 360° views of the Sound and downtown Seattle. Whether you choose a beautifully appointed residence in the Olympic or Cascade Tower, you’ll enjoy a holistic wellness program, intellectual programming, posh amenities and the security of Life Care. Our location in the walkable First Hill neighborhood puts you steps from the arts and culture, high-end shopping, exciting nightlife and travel. But our senior living community isn’t just about uncommon surroundings and gourmet dining. It’s about the planners, thinkers, doers, creators and explorers who live here. Skyline is more than an extraordinary destination — it’s a point of departure to new dreams, discoveries and friendships.

Our History

Skyline’s Cascade Tower opened its doors in 2009 with an innovative vision to offer residents a cosmopolitan lifestyle capitalizing on all that Seattle and the PNW have to offer. As Seattle’s only true Life Care community, Skyline quickly became a destination for those drawn to the stability that a Type A life care community can provide. More than a third of our founding residents relocated from out of the area to join this vibrant group. The Terraces, which adjoins Skyline, opened around the same time to deliver assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services to the residents of Skyline and members of the outside community, when availability permits. Skyline’s Health Center has repeatedly been awarded 5 stars by CMS. The Terraces has continued to update and renovate in response to the changing needs and increasing longevity of older adults. In 2014 The Terraces expanded its memory support services and rehabilitation program.

In 2009, Transforming Age, the non profit organization that owns and operates Skyline, made the strategic decision to purchase the parking lot across from Skyline Cascade’s Tower. While future development plans were still preliminary, the move provided controlling interest of Skyline views and potential for the campus to expand their impact. In 2018, Skyline, in collaboration with Skyline’s own Resident-lead Advisory Committee, announced plans to build the Olympic Tower, adding an addition 76 apartments and new state-of-the-art amenities to the campus. Despite the challenges of building a high-rise during the 2020 pandemic, supply chain shortages and labor strikes, The Olympic Tower opened on time and welcomed their first residents in October of 2021.

About Transforming Age

For over 60 years, Transforming Age has been an innovator and leader in serving older adults. Incorporated in 1956 by the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Seattle, WA, Transforming Age quickly became a place for seniors to live fully enriched lives. In 2002, the Church and Transforming Age severed all legal and financial ties. However, in honor of our spiritual heritage, Transforming Age has bolstered our non-profit mission in service to others.

Today, Transforming Age continues to grow the mission and impact to include a holistic network of affordable housing, community services, technology, philanthropy and partnerships. We also proudly and openly accept people of all faiths and backgrounds by promoting strong diversity among our residents and team members.
