There are several ways that your donation could be used to benefit VCC. You may choose between the following funds:
To help ensure that residents who have exhausted their resources, due to no fault of their own, can always call VCC home. Today, 4 out of every 10 residents at VCC rely on Medicaid alone. Since Medicaid only pays 38 percent of the cost of care for each of these residents, there’s a big gap to fill.
To support VCC’s dedicated employees through continuing education and fun in the workplace. In order to make VCC the best place to live, it has to be the best place to work.
To help provide a comfortable and functioning environment for our residents. Our new memory support facility will offer residents a cozy and safe home-like environment. After that, our hope is to renovate the 20-year-old assisted living facility. We must fix what’s broken and renovate in order sustain and grow.

When you choose to support Vashon Community Care with a planned gift, you strengthen the very foundation on which VCC was built. When a resident moves into VCC and runs out of their life savings, we do not run out on them. Planned gifts enable Vashon Community Care to carefully plan for the future and ensure that our seniors will always have a home on-Island. Here are a several ways to make a Planned Gift:
Gift of stock, real estate or personal property
Bequest—a gift from your estate in the form of cash, securities or other property made through your will or living trust or by designating VCC as a beneficiary of your retirement account or life insurance policy.
Tax-Free Distribution from IRA – retirees age 70½ or older who directly transfer their IRA withdrawals of up to $100,000 to a qualified charity will not owe income tax on the distribution.
If you are considering a planned gift to Vashon Community Care Foundation, please consult with an attorney or financial advisor.
A Roof Over Our Heads
Please help us keep our residents warm and dry by donating to A Roof Over Our Heads campaign.
Our building is 20 years old and in need of repairs and updates. Our first priority is the roof, which we will replace in 2021. Our goal for the roof is $200,000.
